Touch footy team.

Hi guys, just wondering if there are any folks out there that would be interested to form a Dragons touch football team ?

Dont know where we would play yet but just an idea that way everyone in the team would be a Dragons fan.

Maybe have white shirts with red numbers and a Dragon logo or something.

Anyone interested let me know, would love to do it and show our support for the Dragons.

You might find not as many members are logged in now the Dragons are out. You might find better response as the season approaches next year.

Hi Lily , you are probably right about that . I thought it would be a good idea as I never played footy for St.George but it was a wish I had as a kid that I did. I know it sounds funny that I am 51 and never lost that feeling of wanting to have played for the Dragons so this is what I thought might be fun to get all Saints and Illawarra fans who have had that feeling and put a team together.

I am interested! I play touch for sport at work. Want to form two teams? One in Sydney, one in the Illawarra?

Hi Rhea good luck with your teams, I should have said a Touch footy team for Men's division comp,
I don't know how or if I can change my topic heading.

I don't mean to sound anti women playing touch
as I have played and still play touch socially with women and have for years I personally prefer to play footy with guys.

Well I guess trying to put a team together for a Mens Division competetion would be fairly self explanatory . As stated I play social touch with women and it is fun however I have no desire to play in a mixed division competetion .
Don't mean to offend anyone with these comments it's just my preferred preference.

Fiar enough Michael. I am not offended. I'm just looking at this from a practical point of view. What is you get 9 guys and 5 women interested in playing? Are you going to pass up the opportunity to enter a side in a comp just becuase its not to your preference?

Just felt that your response to Rhea's quite enthusiastic response to your suggestion is not helping your cause any, that's all.

oh, and please be sure, I am not even female, or a feminist or anything like that, ok.

Jo...Great point and i see what you are getting at and I concede that my attitude might leave me without a team.

I asked my wife about this issue she said it is more likely i could put a team together if guys knew that the team was made up of blokes.

I am a bit of of an old Dinosaur in my attitudes so be it I am not a fan of women playing football as I am not a fan of men playing Netball.

I'm and older bloke and a bit of stickler for old school ways no offence is meant to be caused by my old dinosaur attitudes.

Really mate, no need to apologise. You have a right to your preferences, as we all do. I was just contributing cos it would be a pity if you are not able to harness whatever enthusiasm you find from members here, and make your team happen. I'm an older bloke too, but I just like to see things happening rather than being passed up. Know what I mean? Anyway, really, good luck with it. If I was on your side of the world, I may well have joined you.

The day I turn on the TV and the commentary goes
HORNBY....CREAGH....OUT TO MORRIS HE'S FLYING DOWN THE WING, BACK INSIDE TO SOWARD ON TO HORNBY BACK INSIDE TO MISS FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE etc....then i will embrace this idea of women playing footy.

I can't get in to it ,I know women have been playing touch for years and good on em .

Capitals was effect , not yelling as they say.

Hey John, I appreciate your input, I guess the women thing with me is if I accept women to play I could end up with more women in the team than guys and the ratio might be more than I would want. So I would find it difficult to proceed say if I had 7 women and 3 guys playing however if the ratio was the other way around I would be happy with that but it would be very hard to organise for that to happen.

I wouldn't rule out women playing in the team if they wanted to play as long the majority were guys.

If someone on here could help me put a team together it would be greatly appreciated.

I played in a Northern Beaches competetion many years ago with the similar idea the team wore white shirts we all wore the old St.George Socks and had red numbers, funny thing is it was my idea and I was the the only Dragons fan but all the players went along with it.

We were called the Manly Dragons and we won a Premiership 12- 6 it was great to do that in St.George colours thats why i want to do it again but this time with Dragon fans only.

I have played my share of Mixed Touch, Hope i don't scare you too much mate but you're talking to a sheila the same age as you, in teh navy and work on aircraft. Hahahahaha, just pulling the you-know what, anyway the ruling always was a majority of blokes on the field. Hope I don't scare you too much!

Ok Rhea lets do it, you are in , John Anderson sounds keen how do we get the others ?

The first rule is I wear no 1 because I use to be a fullback anyone else can choose whatever number they like.

John and Rhea you were first in so you can choose the number you want and we can get this thing going.

Rhea see if you can get a few girls together you can look after that part of the team if you wish.

John maybe you know a few Dragon fans that night be pretty good at touch footy see if you can recruit anyone.

Lily maybe you might want a run ?

Maybe we can call the team Saints or Saints Illawarra would that be allowed ? or just Dragons.

Well looks like there might be 3 of us, we only need 7 more ,
Surely on a site like this finding 7 people to play touch footy wouldn't be hard.

Go Saints, or Saints Illawarra or Dragons or whatever the hell we call ourselves.

I am aiming at ten players , 7 on the field and 3 reserves I think is enough.

only thing i have to be number 4
the story behind that i had a dream i scored a try playing for the dragons few days before Manly game, and in the dream number 4 , so i put 10 on dragons try scorer number 4 ( Kyle Stanley) 13-1 next day i flew out to China , my wife collected winnings bought boots, and i got on my saints jersey I AM NUMBER 4 anyway I am keen play count me in

Hi mate, it was just an idea to put a team together and see where we could play, but the interest from people is not there.

Thanks anyway really appreciate the offer of sponsorship as well really kind of you there.

If we get a few more people there might a chance to put a team together if we do you are number 4.
